May 2013 Press Release
5/1/13 Officers responded to the Shop Rite for a shoplifter. Jason William Ruskin, 32, of Mullica Hill was arrested for concealing two packs of razor blades in his jacket pockets. He was charged, processed, and released with a municipal court date.
5/3/13 Shaquil Le’Ander Reevey, 19, of Camden City was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. Through further investigation he was found to have two active warrants for his arrest. He was taken into custody, charged, and released after posting bail.
5/4/13 Omar Shariff Ellis, 36, of Deptford was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. Through further investigation he was found to be in possession of marijuana. Shariff was arrested and released with a municipal court date.
5/7/13 Officers responded to the area of Creek Road and the East Traffic Circle for a report of a motor vehicle that struck a pedestrian and fled the scene. Officers located the person, 44 year-old Audubon resident Patrick Cassidy, that was supposedly struck by the vehicle on the parking lot of a local business. Patrick was also the person who called central dispatch reporting the pedestrian motor vehicle crash. Numerous surrounding agencies arrived and began checking the area for the vehicle. After questioning Cassidy, and the numerous potential witnesses that were in the area during the time of the alleged incident, police determined Cassidy was lying about being struck. He was arrested for making false reports to a Police Officer. At Police Headquarters Cassidy eventually admitted to lying about the incident. He was processed and turned over to the ambulance for medical treatment.
5/7/13 Sean Quincy Wright, 35, of Pine Hill was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. Through further investigation he was found to be wanted out of the Burlington County’s Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested, processed, and remanded into the Camden County Jail to await transfer to Burlington County.
5/7/13 Officers responded to the 200 block of Browning Road for an intoxicated male banging on doors. Officers located the male matching the description given and identified him as Arnaldo Ramirez, 22, of Westville. He was arrested for Disturbing the Peace. He was processed and transported to his residence.
5/10/13 Officers responded to 2nd Street for an intoxicated male that just kicked the front door in to a residence. Lawrence Joseph Smith, 51, of Gloucester City was arrested for Criminal Mischief after he kicked the front door breaking it off the frame. He was processed and taken to the transportation center in Camden City.
5/11/13 Kaitlin Finley Pilarchik 22, of Haddonfield was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. Pilarchik was eventually arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. She was processed and released to a sober adult.
5/11/13 Officers responded to the Planet Fitness for a report of a theft from a locker. Sometime between 2:15am and 3:40am unknown actor(s) removed $130.00 from the unsecured locker. Anyone with information regarding this incident please contact the Brooklawn Police (456-0750 ext 110).
5/14/13 Officers were dispatched to the Shoprite for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Police arrested 34 year-old Heather Hancock of Gloucester City for concealing approximately $200.00 worth of merchandise in her black bag. Hancock was later found to be in possession of paraphernalia. She was processed and released with a municipal court date.
5/14/13 Officers responded to the Maude Avenue Railroad Crossing for a report of a vehicle stuck on the tracks. Officers found a pickup truck with heavy damage abandoned on the railroad tracks. Officers quickly searched the area and with the help of a few witnesses located the registered owner of the vehicle walking with no shirt on in the area of Chestnut Street and New Broadway. Harry Frank Laute 52, of Gloucester City, was arrested for Obstruction and Disorderly Conduct. He was also given multiple motor vehicle summonses, which included leaving the scene of an accident. He was processed and released.
5/15/13 Franklin C. Ferrara Jr. 32, of Brooklawn was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. During the course of the motor vehicle stop officers asked Franklin if he would consent to a search of his vehicle. Franklin agreed and with the assistance of Camden County Sheriff’s K9 unit a search of the vehicle was performed. The K9 located one bag of heroin inside the vehicle. During the same incident the passenger of the vehicle, 32 year-old Daniel S. Connelly of Brooklawn, was also found to be in possession of two bags of heroin that were hidden in his cell phone. Both were arrested for possession of CDS, processed, and released to await a superior court hearing.
5/17/13 Anthony Francis Varelli Jr., 27, of Gloucester City was arrested for shoplifting after he concealed numerous items totaling $106.97 in a plastic bag and attempted to exit the store without paying. He was arrested and released after being processed.
5/18/13 Officers responded to the front of Shop Rite for a women huffing computer duster. 33 year-old Elizabeth Baxter, a Philadelphia resident, was actively huffing when officers arrived on scene. She was taken into custody and two other cans were located in her purse. She was arrested and charged with Inhaling Toxic Chemicals. She was processed and released.
5/21/13 Patrick Edward Cassady 44, of Audubon called Central Communications (dispatch) from the phone outside Brooklawn Police Headquarters and asked for officers to come to headquarters to fight him. When officers arrived on scene Cassidy made threats towards the officers trying to entice a fight, and while doing so he asked to be shot. Cassidy was peacefully taken into custody without further incident. He was charged with Disturbing The Peace and turned over to the Brooklawn Ambulance to be transported to Kennedy Hospital for evaluation.
On 5/21/13 officers were dispatched to the parking lot of the Shop Rite for people inside a vehicle using narcotics. The vehicle was located and through further investigation three people were arrested. Alicia Nicole Sikorski, 22, of Oaklyn was arrested for possession of CDS after 2 bags of cocaine were found in her possession. James Charles Buzby 3rd, 22, of Vineland was arrested for drug paraphernalia after multiple empty bags of heroin were found in his possession. Joshua Steven Paleschic, 25, of Vineland was arrested for an active warrant out of Salem City for $750.00. All three were transported to police headquarters, processed and released.
On 5/23/13 Waylon James Nelson, 34, of Philadelphia was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. Through further investigation he was arrested for operating a vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs. Nelson was processed and released to a sober adult.
On 5/24/13 police were dispatched to the Shoprite for a report of a shoplifting that just occurred. The call was upgraded to a robbery after the actor, an unknown black male, fought with the loss prevention officer to get away. The actor managed to break free and quickly got into a white car that was being driven by an older black male wearing glasses. Police were able to obtain the vehicles registration number and the investigation is on going.
On 5/24/13 Officers responded to a robbery at the Citgo Gas Station on Route 130. The employee stated that a white male attempted to snatch the money from his hands after asking if he had change for a one hundred dollar bill. The male was unsuccessful in taking the money and jumped back into the vehicle and the driver sped off. The vehicle was located shortly thereafter parked in the Bellmawr Manor. Assisting units stood by while a Pennsauken K9 unit attempted to track the two suspects. The K9 track was successful and the two suspects were located in a wooded area. Both males were taken into custody. Adam Matthew Watson, 29, of Haddonfield was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. He was processed and released with a superior court date. Joshua Mattew Breithaupt, 31, of Oaklyn was charged with Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. Breithaupt was processed and remanded into the Camden County Jail in default of bail.
5/23/13 Officers responded to the 200 block of Chestnut Street for a female who had barricaded herself in her home. After numerous attempts to talk her out of her home the Zone 5 Critical Incident Team was paged out to handle the situation. Also paged out was the Camden County Sheriff Department’s SWAT Team, which added additional resources. After approximately four hours, assistance from numerous police entities and the Sheriff’s Departments Robot the women was successfully taken out, but only after police forced entry into the house. She was immediately placed into an ambulance and transported to Kennedy Hospital to be evaluated. No criminal charges were brought against the female.
March 2013 Press Release:
On 3/7/13 at 2:32pm an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Chestnut Street. Through further investigation the passenger in the vehicle, 37 year old Nino Anthony Payge, of Deptford was found to have numerous outstanding warrants totaling $6,675.00. He was processed and remanded to the Gloucester County Jail after failing to post bail.
On 3/11/13 at 4:18pm an officer observed a white female staggering in the Westbrook Bowling Alley Parking Lot. The officer then observed the female look into a vehicle and seconds later enter the vehicle. The officer watched as this female, later identified as 54 year old Katherine Hawco of Gloucester City, sat in the drivers seat and began placing items into her purse. As Hawco was walking away from the vehicle she was immediately stopped by the officer and questioned. After a brief investigation it was determined that Hawco had just burglarized the vehicle as it was not hers; nor where the items she took from it. She was processed and then transported to Underwood Memorial Hospital.
On 3/11/13 Matthew Edward Brown, 26, of Winslow was involved in a motor vehicle crash. Upon further investigation he was found to have active warrants for his arrest. He was processed and released with new court dates.
On 3/14/13 at 7:00pm unknown person(s) cut the pad lock to the Pepsi machine outside of the Brooklawn Fire Department. There was no money in the machine to take. Anyone with information regarding this incident contact the Brooklawn Police.
On 3/18/13 at 7:13am Michael Joseph Arrison, 21, of Brooklawn was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. Through further investigation he was found to have numerous warrants for his arrest totaling $5,349.00. He was processed and remanded to the Camden County Jail.
On 3/19/13 at 5:41pm officers and an ambulance were dispatched to the Gaetano’s parking lot for a male who was passed out behind the wheel. Robert Rowe Costello, 52, of Logan Twp was located in the vehicle with his foot on the brake and the vehicle still in drive/running. Officers put the vehicle into park and attempted wake Robert. Officers then observed two bags of heroin that were on the front passengers seat. Also located in the vehicle was a half empty bottle of vodka. Costello was charged with Possession of CDS, Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, and DWI. He was processed, released, and turned over to a family member.
On 3/20/13 officers responded to Ray Bets Liquors for a burglary. Sometime overnight unknown actor(s) pried the front door open and stole money from the store. If anyone has any information regarding this incident contact the Brooklawn Police.
On 3/22/13 at 6:19pm Norman Burkett, 42, of Brooklawn came to Police Headquarters to turn himself in on a $500.00 warrant out of Monmouth County. Norman posted the full $500.00 and released with a new court date.
On 3/24/13 officers responded to the Days Inn for a disturbance. As the Brooklawn Officer arrived on scene and was exiting his vehicle a male, later identified as 44 year old Walter Maron Davis of Philadelphia, quickly approached him and, for no apparent reason, struck him in the face while he was between the vehicle and the drivers side door. The officer was able to subdue Walter by taking him to the ground, and with the help of arriving officers get him handcuffed. Walter was processed and remanded to the Camden County Jail. He was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.
On 3/24/13 officers responded to the Shop Rite for a male who had just shoplifted and fled in a vehicle. After speaking to witnesses officers were able to obtain the suspects license plate. Officers then went out to the address where the vehicle was registered and located the vehicle. After a brief investigation Randy Drue Johnston, 49, of Westville was arrested for shoplifting. He was brought back to headquarters, processed, and released.
On 3/27/13 officers and an ambulance responded to the 600 block of Browning Rd for an unconscious male. Officers found Ryan J. McGrogan, 21, of Gibbsboro lying on the ground with a can of “Blow Off” duster next to him. The suspect was inhaling the duster causing a condition of intoxication. The suspect regained consciousness and refused medical treatment. He was transported to headquarters and charged with inhaling toxic chemicals. Mcgrogan was processed and released.
On 3/28/13 Charles Joseph Nazarene, 43, of Deptford was stopped for a motor vehicle violation and through further investigation was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of liquor and/or drugs. He was transported to police headquarters where he agreed to provide samples of his breath. He was charged with DWI and released to a sober adult.
On 3/29/13 Brooklawn Officers and the Zone 5 Critical Incident Team executed a search warrant at a residence located on the 400 block of Chestnut Street. A long, on-going investigation regarding the distribution of CDS from the residence was conducted. Kelvin Jeffery Williams, 23, of Pennsauken was found inside the residence and arrested. Numerous packaging paraphernalia (baggies and vials) was recovered along with scales and money. Kelvin was charged with Possession of CDS, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and Failure to surrender CDS to law enforcement. He was processed and remanded to the Camden County Jail.
